How to verify my site with Bing and submit my sitemap?

In addition to Google and Yahoo, you can also verify your site with Bing and submit your sitemap to them. You'll need a Windows Live ID; if you do not have one, you can sign up for one here.



Verifying your Site with Bing1.) Once you have your Windows Live ID, sign in to your account at Bing's Webmaster Tools site.


2.) Once you sign in, it will ask you for your Company Name, Business Category, & Contact Number if you've never filled out the information before. Then, click Save.

3.) Once you are in your Bing Webmaster Tools dashboard, click the Add Site button.

4.) A small window will pop up asking you for your domain name. Enter it, and then click Submit.

5.) Choose the second option: Copy and paste a tag in your default webpage.

6.) The option will "open" and a code will be displayed. Copy your code.

7.) Login to your store's control panel.
8.) Click on Design.

9.) Click on the Template Files tab.

10.) Find the Panels folder and click the plus sign next to it.

11.) In the new list of files, scroll down until you find HTMLHead.html and click Edit.

12.) Paste your code on a blank line (15 is usually fine.)

13.) Click Save.

14.) Go back to your Bing Webmaster Tools and click Verify.

15.) You should now be taken to the dashboard for your store.


Submitting your Sitemap:1.) In your Bing Webmaster Tools, click on Crawl.

2.) Then, click on the Sitemaps (XML, Atom, RSS) link.

3.) Click on the Add Feed button.

4.) A smaller window will pop up asking you for where your Sitemap feed is on your store. As long as you have the full address for your store listed in this box, you only need to add thexmlsitemap.php in the last box, as you see below. You should not have to add anything into the left box. When you've entered in the text, click Submit.

5.) You will now be taken back to the crawl page, where you can see the status of your sitemap.
